If you have several pieces of lumber, plywood and chicken wire, you can build the coop in just a few hours. If you need something more complicated, we recommend you to build the nests and to create access doors from the back of the coop. In this manner you can take the fresh eggs every morning without having to go in the chicken coop. Adjust the size of the chicken coop to your needs, but you can always follow these general instructions to get the job done.

Generally speaking, all you need to do is a frame made out of 2×2 lumber and to attach the 5/8” siding to the exterior. Choosing the right large dog house plans for your pet is essential, as the planning and preliminary stages account for more than 50% of the work.

Building a simple dog house

Small dog house plansThere are so many things you could add to the dog house, in order to make the pet feel as home. For example you could add a small deck with a pergola to the front of the construction, or you could just insulate the walls with think and rigid insulation sheets. Adding 1/4” plywood sheets to the interior of the dog house is easy and it will make a significant difference. In addition, if you want to get a durable construction, don’t forget to add roofing felt and asphalt shingles to the roof of the house.

If you have a really big dog, there is also a solution for your problem: building a large dog house. If you find yourself on the opposite side, you could choose small dog  house plans, as to fit the size of the pet. Last but not least, we strongly recommend you to check if the dog has enough room to turn inside the dog house, otherwise it will be hard to sleep inside the construction. On the other hand, always make sure the screws are inserted properly, to prevent potential injuries.

Fill the cracks and holes with wood putty, smooth the surface and apply several coats of paint to get the job done as a professional. As we have already emphasized, choosing the right plans for your project is important, as it represents almost 50% out of the whole effort required. Place the dog house on several pieces of wood or concrete slabs to lift it 2” from the ground. In this manner, you will protect the dog house against water damage.
